Young Maylay and later simply Maylay (born June 17, 1979 in Los Angeles, California) is an American rapper, hip hop recording artist and record producer.

young was raised in Los Angeles, California amidst the gang violence and the gangsta rap peak of the 1980s and 1990s. He began his music career in 2000. Bellard has released two albums, the San Andreas: The Original Mixtape in 2005, The Real Coast Guard in 2008. [1]

During the early 2000s, while working in New York, Maylay received a phone call from friend and fellow rapper DJ Pooh, and the two had a regular conversation about music which, unknown to Maylay, occurred on speaker phone, with Rockstar Games staff hearing the conversation. The developers encouraged Pooh, who was co-producer and writer for Rockstar's next GTA game, to bring Maylay in to audition. Several weeks after the audition, Maylay was selected as the voice actor for Carl Johnson, the main protagonist of Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.[2] Maylay is also the cousin of Shawn "Solo" Fonteno, who is the voice actor for Franklin in Grand Theft Auto V.[3]

In late 2019 he posted on social media in response to rumors that CJ would make an appearance in future Grand Theft Auto title(s). In an expletive-laden series of posts on Instagram, Maylay denied any involvement in any future work with Rockstar Games, stating in one post "No disrespect to Dan Houser AT ALL, but... they're Culture Vultures MF's from London making BILLIONS off LA n****s and we don't see 10% of that..." implying discontent with the money made from GTA: San Andreas in their typically over-the-top caricature of his African-American gang culture. This also led to Maylay arguing with fans about the situation between him and Rockstar Games.
