Wilson Taylor Sr. is a guest on the radio show Pacemaker on Public Liberty Radio in Grand Theft Auto IV.
He is voiced by comedian Bill Hader.
History[]
Background[]
Taylor Sr. is the CEO of the largest HMO in the nation, Co-Pay Health System.
Despite the ongoing recession in 2008, Taylor Sr. and his organisation strongly promote privatized and expensive healthcare, being more interested in turning over a maximum profit than the actual well-being of his customers.
Events of Grand Theft Auto IV[]
During his interview segment on the show Pacemaker, Taylor Sr. discusses a number of issues.
Despite expecting people to pay up to $10,000 for healthcare coverage, he is more than happy to deny the claims, telling people to "harass someone who can do something about it, like God, instead of calling and harassing our call-center workers". He seems to believe socialized healthcare would transform the United States for the worse, making comments such as "there'd be lines for bread, and we'd all be speaking Russian or Cuban, and people would die!" It's further revealed that he once refused a liver transplant to a dying child, on the reasoning that "she was too risky".
Despite claiming "we mustn't become a nation of hypochondriacs", he himself is shown to be a severe hypochondriac, being unreasonably afraid of getting sick. He despises sick people and considers them leeches, and thinks people should just "avoid getting sick" or, if they are ailing, to probably kill themselves, as "it's all over".
His arguments can generally be summed up in one quote: "Just because you have insurance, why use it? Why should we pay just because we said we would? (...) What do you matter anyway?"
At the end of Pacemaker, Waylon Mason drills holes into his and other guest Sheila Stafford's heads, presumably killing both.
