The Widowmaker is a weapon featured in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of the Arena War update, released on January 8, 2019, during the Unholy Hellbringer and Widowmaker Week event.
Design[]
Grand Theft Auto Online[]
The Widowmaker is a plasma machine gun with four barrels on it. The main body features the main grips typical of a portable gatling gun and the ammo is located on the rear end, connected by a pair of wires. There appear to be seven alien head symbols on the side, likely representing kill counts.
True to what the descriptions and appearance suggests, it is based on the same weapon from Republican Space Rangers, used by the Commander.
Performance[]
Grand Theft Auto Online[]
Statistic-wise, the Widowmaker performs identically to the Minigun, even using the same ammunition, being a great weapon against helicopters, planes, motor vehicles, and multiple enemies. However, it is still just as cumbersome to use and slows down the wielder, unable to run fast, taking cover, or performing evasive rolls.
The difference between the Widowmaker and the Minigun is that it fires red lasers, which makes it easy to find the user's location. The weapon can also be bought at any Rank, whereas the Minigun is unlocked at Rank 120. However, the weapon is ten times more expensive than the Minigun. In Third-person perspective, the Widowmaker can aim higher up in the air than the Minigun, but in First-person, it aims lower.
