A Wheelie is a maneuver that can be done with bicycles and motorcycles, as well as muscle cars in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online. Popping a wheelie gives a bonus, similar to doing a stoppie, stunt jump, or two wheel double.
To pop a wheelie, press and hold the left dialog stick back. Holding the stick too far back will cause the player character to lose balance and fall off the bike. The longer one holds the wheelie, the larger the monetary bonus. It's generally a good idea to get up some speed first, then lift and stop speeding.
This maneuver can be done in all main installments of the series from GTA Vice City onwards, specifically: Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, Grand Theft Auto IV, Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City, and Grand Theft Auto V.

Performing Wheelies[]
3D Universe[]
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City[]
In Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, triggering a wheelie reward requires the driver to drive on the back wheel of a motorcycle for at least 5 seconds.
When calculating the reward for a wheelie, both the distance traveled and the time performing the wheelie are factors. The distance is measured in feet and the distance traveled during the wheelie gets multiplied by 0.06, and the time holding the wheelie gets multiplied by 0.2. Then, to finish the calculation, any decimal on the cash reward gets removed and the driver is rewarded the cash bonus for the wheelie.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas[]
In Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, triggering a wheelie reward requires the driver to drive on the back wheel of a motorcycle or bicycle for at least 5 seconds.
When calculating the reward for a wheelie, only the distance traveled during the wheelie is factored into the reward. The distance is measured in feet and the distance traveled during the wheelie gets multiplied by 0.06. Then, to finish the calculation, any decimal on the cash reward gets removed and the driver is rewarded the cash bonus for the wheelie.
Rewards[]
- Money; the longer the wheelie, the more money is rewarded
- Holding a wheelie for at least 30 seconds in the PlayStation 4 version of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City will unlock the "One is Better Than Two" Trophy.
- Holding a wheelie for at least 500 feet in Grand Theft Auto IV will unlock the "Wheelie Rider" achievement.
