The Vespucci University is a university located in Varsity Heights, Algonquin, Liberty City, that appears in Grand Theft Auto IV, Episodes from Liberty City, and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.
Description
The university consists of a campus set in central Varsity Heights. There are six unnamed buildings at the campus, including a library to the north, while the others are likely either classrooms or administrative offices. The Higgins Helitours' pilot describes Vespucci's library as the place "where they get their long hair stuck in their fancy books."
A section of Ruby Street between Galveston Avenue and Ivy Drive South runs through the campus, and it is mainly used as a pedestrian-only pathway by students of the university to travel through the campus.
History
Events of The Ballad of Gay Tony
During a Club Management mission, Luis Fernando Lopez must drive his friend Al Di Napoli to a drug deal with Oscar Gomez and another unknown accomplice at the university. During the mission, the deal is ambushed by police, and winds up with the four escaping.
Events of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars
In the mission Evidence Dash, Wade Heston's car, which contains evidence that can put Wade and his squad in jail, is stolen by the IAD agents. His squad is now after the car to destroy it before the IAD discover the evidence, but Wade says that his car was the last gift from his ex-wife, and it has too much sentimental value for him. So he asks Huang to get the car, destroy all the evidence and bring the vehicle back to him without a scratch. If the player doesn't stop the car by himself, the car will eventually come to a stop in the middle of the Vespucci University campus, where it can be picked.

Influence
The Vespucci University is inspired by the real-life Columbia University. It was likely named after Amerigo Vespucci, the explorer whom the continents of North and South America were named after. This is again to mirror Columbia University, named after Christopher Columbus, an explorer of North and South America.
The unnamed library building appears to be inspired by the Low Memorial Library from the Columbia University campus.
