The Utility Van is a utility pickup truck appearing in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
Design[]
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas[]
The Utility Van resembles a 1988–2002 Chevrolet/GMC C/K work truck from the 1990s.
The vehicle assumes a similar design to vehicles such as the Bobcat, the Benson and the Tow Truck, where the front end features a small bumper and a wide grille with three horizontal elements, while the sections beside the grille are occupied by the headlight units, consisting of large square units, rectangular units below and vertical indicators on the outer edges. The hood is relatively simple in shape and opens to reveal the engine bay, while the sides of the cab have flared front arches and small mirrors on the doors.
The rear section consists of the utility bed, having numerous compartments on the sides and tall frames with a ladder on top. The rear end features a small tailgate in the center, a license plate on the driver side and circular tail lights, consisting of upper main/brake units and lower indicators. The bottom has two steps on either side and a tow hitch in the center, along with the exhaust pipe on the underside.
The Utility Van is one of three vehicles in the game bearing the Sanitary Andreas logo on the utility bed, the other two being the Sweeper and Trashmaster, and it can spawn with two sets of cones, buckets and other utility accessories as extras. The vehicle can be seen in three different shades of grayish white as the primary color, with one of them having a red stripe on the sides as the secondary color.
Performance[]
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas[]
The Utility Van does not have very good driving attributes, as it has a rather slow acceleration and top speed. This is probably because it is a very heavy vehicle. The braking is probably one of the Utility Van's best attributes, as it is above average. The tow hitch on the back is functional and was originally intended for the Utility Trailer, but the trailer is not found anywhere in-game.
The vehicle's engine is definitely a diesel because of the slower shifting and deep sound from vans such as the Burrito and the Rumpo, and it could very well be a V8 that is underpowered to pull such a heavy truck. A 5-speed gearbox is fitted as standard and delivers power to the rear wheels.
The Utility Van shares its engine sound with the Ambulance, Berkley's RC Van, BoxBurg, Burrito, Journey, Mule, Newsvan, Pony, Securicar and the Tow Truck.
