I first played GTA at the age of 11, the first game I played was Vice City, then III, then LCS, VCS, TBoGT, San Andreas, IV, TLaD and V. The graphics on my computer can be hit and miss when playing the GTA IV trilogy, but as Churchill said: "Keep buggering on". I have finally played GTA V now as well, and completed the storyline in just under a month. Not bad going if I do say so myself.
Part of my enjoyment of GTA games come from the soundtracks. Every GTA game I've played has included many songs that I like, from power ballads, soul, even country through to the classic rock. I believe that Rockstar make great soundtracks for the GTA games, which really make them come alive, and they capture the mood perfectly. My favourite soundtracks are Vice City, San Andreas and GTA V. During 2013 and 2014, the GTA V soundtrack kept me going through college, getting over a girl I fancied and also the death of my grandmother. This game's soundtrack is the one with the most meaning to me, especially now that I'm getting older (God I sound older than 21) and starting to experience "real life".
In terms of gameplay, I've completed the storylines of all the 3D Universe games, as well as GTA IV and GTA V, so I like to keep things simple in 'retirement', preferring to go on long driving cruises through the cities and countryside. My favourite vehicles are the older, classic cars, as well as "generic" "street" cars.
I'm quarter-Scottish through my grandad. My interests include football (I support Leicester City FC and Chesterfield FC), cricket (following Leicestershire CCC through despair, mainly), pub quizzes, GTA (obviously) and listening to music. My favourite music genre is classic rock, but I also like soft rock and power ballads, and my favourite song is "The Boys of Summer" by Don Henley. I (somehow) have a college diploma in Mechanical Engineering (God knows how), though I previously worked as a Data Inputting Gimp. Ask anyone at my school about me, and you're most likely to arrive at "He acts like a 45-year-old".
Let me know if you're still awake after reading this.
The first game I played, many, many moons ago. By far the most beautiful city in the franchise, with a fantastic story and superb gameplay. Throw in the 1980s soundtrack and I was in gaming heaven!
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
The best game in the entire series. A fantastic storyline, wonderful setting and a soundtrack packed full of classic rock, country, soul, even the hip-hop. Nothing beats finishing the storyline, standing at the peak of Mount Chiliad whilst "Somebody Up There Likes Me" blasts out of your radio, or driving through the countryside in the rain with "Green River" in the background, or spending a Friday night cruising through the desert with either "A Horse With No Name" or "Running Away" on the radio. Fantastic game, fantastic soundtrack, fantastic characters, wonderful setting. Doesn't get much better does it?
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories
The game I've made the most progress on, and a game I hold in very high regard. The soundtrack, especially, played a major part of my life when I was younger (and still does, as does every GTA soundtrack), there's nothing like playing either Vice City or Vice City Stories if you really need to slow down with some powerful music. Wonderful times.
Grand Theft Auto IV and Episodes from Liberty City
A game that's grown on me over time. Graphics issues aside, the storyline is engaging and in some ways the bleak storylines of IV and TLaD make the game more "atmospheric", especially when listening to the radio. As someone who likes the somewhat bleak and dark Liberty City, I feel that the pack is much better than sometimes given credit for, especially as the first two games have the darker side of the city whereas TBoGT has the more optimistic and happier ending. Some of my favourite memories have been from driving through some of the wastelands in the city during the night whilst listening to some "atmospheric" music.
Grand Theft Auto V
I may be two years late to the party, but it has been worth the wait. As others have said, it isn't the game everyone makes it out to be, but it is still a fantastic game and has hooked me at such an early stage. Michael is the protagonist I find myself engaging with the most, especially since one of my first experiences with him was driving through the rain in the middle of the night with "Baker Street" playing on the radio (the song which best fits his mindset and personality in my opinion). No other song in the game has the same effect on me, and it appears now that Rockstar choose the songs to help reflect the storyline, and they've captured it perfectly. With regard to the location, not everyone is a fan of the open desert and countryside but I love it. It's a chance to have a bit of escapism and really take your mind off things.
My favourite songs
Most of my enjoyment of GTA games comes from the soundtracks, and they are the main reason I buy and play the games. I like most songs from each GTA game, but in the following sections I've listed the 30 from each game which "mean the most" to me. Enjoy (or moan at me for your new state of boredom):
Gerry Rafferty - Baker Street - Los Santos Rock Radio - "A true classic and an absolute favourite of mine. But, listen to the lyrics, this fits Michael perfectly. Driving through the night in the rain and listening to this song whilst contemplating his decision to move to Los Santos just shows why Rockstar put it in the game. The power of good music. RIP Gerry."
The Doobie Brothers - What a Fool Believes - Los Santos Rock Radio - "My favourite song. When I found out this was in the game I was the happiest guy in the world."
Humble Pie - 30 Days in the Hole - Los Santos Rock Radio - "A song I discovered through the game. Perfect for a long drive on a sunny day."
Simple Minds - All the Things She Said - Los Santos Rock Radio - "Big fan of Simple Minds, though personally I'd have prefered "Waterfront" in the game. Nonetheless, good choice for a drive through sunny Los Santos."
Bob Seger - Night Moves - Los Santos Rock Radio - "Takes me back to 17 December 2013, on a bus in Leicester heading to my grandma's (RIP) listening to this whilst thinking about a girl I liked who didn't like me back, such is life. Great song from a great (and under-rated) artist."
Greg Kihn Band - The Breakup Song - Los Santos Rock Radio - "Recently bought the greatest hits, and am followed by Greg Kihn on Twitter. Shame they never had much success, as this song certainly proves that they have talent. This has Michael written all over it."
Bob Seger - Hollywood Nights - Los Santos Rock Radio - "Bob again. For me, this is the song to play after completing the game, driving around with however much in your bank balance and peace in your life. If only it was like that in the real world."
Steve Winwood - Higher Love - Los Santos Rock Radio - "Another song I discovered through GTA V. A good song for a long road trip."
Creedence Clearwater Revival - Fortunate Son - Los Santos Rock Radio - "You can never, EVER go wrong with Creedence Clearwater Revival. Not much to add."

Mr. Mister - Broken Wings - Emotion 98.3 - "Takes me back to 19 February 2011, on a train from Lincoln to Leicester, thinking about a girl I loved who didn't love me back, and later again whilst I was lying in bed in the darkness listening to the Emotion CD. Magical moments."

Night Ranger - Sister Christian - Emotion 98.3 - "Another 19 February song. 19 February 2016, 23:10; walking down the wet, windy and empty streets of Norwich singing along to this song. A spontaneous moment which would make a great film scene."

Ram Jam - Black Betty - Los Santos Rock Radio
Steve Miller Band - Take the Money and Run - Los Santos Rock Radio
