A Leonida criminal (tentatively known as the "Leonida impertinent") is due to appear as a minor character in Grand Theft Auto VI.
History[]
Background[]
He is an unnamed heavily tattooed criminal based in Leonida. He has a tattoo of the word "impertinent", misspelled "impentinent" on his forehead.
Events of Grand Theft Auto VI[]
In the mid-2020s, the criminal is arrested by the Vice-Dale Police Department. According to Megamundo's "Mega Noticias" news report, one of his own tattoos framed him for a crime he committed.
Influence[]
The character appears to be inspired by a real-life Florida man named Lawrence Sullivan, who became known as the "Miami Joker" and "Florida Joker" after his mugshot and face tattoos (resembling the Joker from the Batman series) went viral in 2017.[1]
Controversy[]
Following the release of the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, Lawrence Sullivan demanded up to $2 million from Rockstar Games, claiming his likeness was used for the character in the trailer. "Florida Joker ain't having that," he said on his TikTok account, "y'all took my likeness, y’all took my life."
On December 13, Sullivan posted a video on TikTok with purple-dyed hair and wearing an orange prison jumpsuit to ape the character more closely and demanding $3 million from Rockstar Games – "I'm giving you the biggest free marketing you got in the entire history of running this GTA game," he said. "For that, I want an extra million dollars."[2]
