Unconventional Warfare is the fifth of the Project Overthrow missions featured in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of the San Andreas Mercenaries update.
Description[]
The player spawns in next to the Avenger on Sandy Shores Airfield. Moments later, Pernell Moss drives up on his Shinobi, gets in the pilot's seat of the Avenger and fires up the engine. After entering the Avenger's hold, the player can stock up on snacks, ammo and body armor while P Moss flies over the government facility. During the flight, Charlie briefs the player on how Merryweather kidnapped Avi Schwartzman and are making him dig up intel on the Los Santos Angels crew, and that they need to rescue him before too much intel is leaked.
After reaching the government facility, the player HALO jumps out of the Avenger and parachutes down to the ground. Once there, they stealthily or loudly make their way to the facility entrance to hack a keypad before heading inside.
Inside, the player locates the server farm and continues killing or evading Merryweather mercenaries and NOOSE agents on their way to Avi. After rescuing Avi, if the player is undetected up to this point, the alarm will go off as the NOOSE "somehow" realize they are inside.
After fighting their way out of the facility, the player drives or runs a short distance to the nearby beach where the Avenger is waiting for them. Once inside, Charlie introduces himself over the radio and asks Avi how he got into this situation, at which it's explained that as a result of The Data Contract leak (which Avi will note if the player completed it) that showcased Merryweather's relationship with the US government, Merryweather kidnapped him to look up classified intel mainly on the Angels. The conversation is interrupted when the Avenger is attacked by Merryweather in Weaponized Conadas, Buzzard Attack Choppers, P-996 LAZER and Dinghy boats, temporarily disabling it and leaving it hanging in the air on autopilot. From there, the player must use the onboard turrets to shoot down the helicopters while P Moss and Charlie find a way to get the Avenger moving again. Once P Moss disables the autopilot to fly the Avenger manually and all pursuers are shot down, the mission is completed.
Avi's blood pressure is almost back to normal... and there's gotta be some major stress on the Merryweather-government marriage now, too.

Mission Objectives[]

- Go to the server farm entrance.
- Use the ladder to get down.
- Use the keypad to unlock the door.
- Rescue Avi Schwartzman.
- Go to the exit with Avi Schwartzman.
- Take Avi Schwartzman to the Avenger.
- Take out the Merryweather agents.
