For other uses, see Tug (disambiguation).

The Tug is an airtug featured in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Design[]

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas[]

The Tug assumes a relatively generic design, presumably based on enclosed variations of the Clark CT or the Harlan HTA tugs.

The vehicle is designed as a haulage tug similar to the Baggage, where the front end features a large black bumper and a wide grille with five separations, while the outer edges mount a set of circular headlights. The hood/nose features two rectangular hatches on either side that open to reveal the engine bay, while the lower left section appears to house a small exhaust and a fuel cap.

On the rear section, the vehicle features small steps and a tall cabin with two access doors on either side, marker lights on both ends, and an amber beacon on the right half of the roof, as well as a fire extinguisher on the left-hand section behind the cabin. The rear end of the vehicle features two circular main/brake lights on either side and a single circular reverse/rear-facing main light in the center, while the lower area has a black ram bar with a tow hitch (though unlike the Baggage, it cannot tow any of the airport carriages). The Tug is one of very few vehicles to feature a rear window wiper.

The Tug may spawn with a toolbox or with a small case behind the cabin as separate extras, and only spawns in a white color, where the primary one is applied to the upper section of the vehicle and the secondary one to the lower section.

Performance[]

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas[]

Contrary to its appearance, the Tug has a high overall speed, but low acceleration. The Tug is not particularly useful for non-urban environments and also has very limited capabilities for evading pursuers, but can be a quick and efficient mode of transport from getting from the airport to a safehouse or other location via surface streets. Its best use is as a substitute for walking, being slower than a car, yet faster than running.

The Tug is powered by a small petrol engine, which is partially visible by breaking one of the side hatches on the hood/nose area. The same engine is coupled to a 4-speed gearbox in a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout, and it shares the noisy engine sound with the Baggage.

Trivia[]

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas[]

  • When using the carnival cheat, Tugs have lowrider suspension.
  • The default radio station in the Tug is K-DST.
  • Strangely, if the player carjacks the Tug from the right side, the Tug will accelerate and begin driving away, as if it had a driver in the left seat. However, the Tug has only a single seat.
  • Despite its unattractive, bland appearance, the Tug greatly boosts the player's sex appeal.
  • Strangely, the rear right marker light is located below the rear window, opposed to the other marker lights that are located above, as expected from other similar vehicles.
    • This was corrected in The Definitive Edition.
