The box variant of the Trailer[2] is a towable trailer appearing in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online.
Design[]
Grand Theft Auto V and Online[]
The Trailer is depicted as a twin-axle, medium-sized trailer. It shares the chassis (and in-game name, although never seen by the player) with a number of other towable trailers, with two stands on the front for the landing gear, side guard rails protecting the underside from other vehicles and a rear guard rail with the corresponding circular tail lights, also used on most semi-trucks.
It features a refrigeration units on the front, chrome borders, red/white warning strips across the lower sides of the box, side guard rails with textures from the Flatbed Trailer, different rear guard rail textures and thinner fenders fitted with mudguards on either end. It may spawn blank or with company liveries, being Cluckin' Bell, Pisswasser and Up-n-Atom Burger.
The following vehicles can tow this model of trailer:
- Barracks Semi
- Docktug
- Hauler
- Packer
- Phantom
- Phantom (Happy Holidays)
- Phantom Wedge
- Phantom Custom
- Hauler Custom

Performance[]
Grand Theft Auto V and Online[]
The trailer seems to be relatively light and therefore allows trucks to travel the quickest out of all trailers.
Being a trailer, it cannot be driven; however, it does use a shared handling line with a number of similar trailers.
Unlike other trailers of the same size, the box trailer is able to burn with a burn texture when destroyed.

Special Variants[]
Cluckin Bell Trailer[]
A random semi-truck will often tow a Cluckin' Bell trailer out of Clucking Bell Farms in Paleto Bay. This requires a vehicle model set to specify the livery it must spawn in. This applies to trailers2
, the box trailer found with numerous liveries.

Trivia[]
Grand Theft Auto V[]
- Strangely, this trailer (
trailers2
), along with the container/curtain-side trailer (trailers
) and ramp trailer (trailers3
) has its own individual handling entry inhandling.dat
in the original Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game, namedtrailer2
,trailer
andtrailerl
respectively, but all three of the models instead only use theTRAILER
handling entry.[3] This data was removed in the enhanced version of the game, where an xml-basedhandling.meta
file is used. - According to the first GTA V Trailer, the box trailer originally assumed the design of the Fame or Shame model, with a slightly raised front section to accommodate for the fifth wheel attachment. In the final game, all configurations of the trailer, excluding the Fame or Shame model itself, assume a completely squared-off design.[4]
