Thrown weapons, also known as Throwing weapons or Throwable weapons, are a class of weapons easily characterized by their small sizes and the ability to carry it with a single hand.
Thrown weapons, as the name suggests, are meant to be thrown by a person towards a specific area or dropped next to the character. Thrown weapons are generally explosives, although other examples are non-explosives, either "non-lethal" or harmless (although they may still provoke NPCs due to using file data in the same manner as most weapons).
Pipe Bombs are Improvised explosive devices that work similarly to the Grenades. In Grand Theft Auto Online, they have a short fuse once they make contact with the ground, able to reach their targets and explode near them quickly.
Sticky Bombs are remote explosives that work similarly to the Satchel Charges, except that they do not stick to pedestrians. They have a short delay upon activation to explode (except in Grand Theft Auto V).
Proximity Mines are explosives that work similarly to a remote explosive, except that it does not use any sort of detonation functionality. Instead, it is armed upon being placed and explodes when a pedestrian or a moving vehicle passes near it. It has a short delay upon activation to explode.
Molotov Cocktails, simply known as Molotovs, are improvised incendiary weapons that can cause set an area on fire, burning anything within the area. Any pedestrian or vehicle affected by the fire will likely burn in the process, being often a devastating weapon against pedestrians.
Snowballs are novelty items that are exclusively available in snowy weather (which is rare). They deal little damage against pedestrians and other players, but have a chance of knocking them over.
Random Pickable Objects are a type of thrown weapon that deals little damage, but have a chance of knocking over pedestrians. Objects are generally the size of the character's hand and work similarly to any conventional thrown weapon.
The Ball is a toy and a special item that is depicted as a baseball. Its purpose in the game is to play fetch with Chop as Franklin, thus dealing no damage towards pedestrians.
Flares are items that are purposed to mark an area, emitting a bright and thick smoke that allows one to see it at night. While they can be used as a conventional weapon, they deal no damage.
BZ Gas grenades/cans are a non-lethal variation of Tear Gas, which behaves similarly to its counterpart, but deals no damage due to the fact it is purposed for the smart approach of The Jewel Store Job.
Flashbang grenades are a type of thrown weapon that do not explode, but stun enemies by emitting a bright light, allowing the player to evade them or distract them while switching weapons or taking cover.
