Album cover for The Music of Grand Theft Auto V - Volume 1: Original Music, where the track appears.
"The Set Up" (also stylized as "The Setup") is an original song by Favored Nations featured in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online.
Description[]
The song was written and performed by Favored Nations in 2013.[vaguevaguespecific band members at the time of the track's production?] The song was used by Rockstar Games exclusively for their video game GTA V.
In-game, the track can be heard on Radio Mirror Park, and is also used as the first track in the end credits should the player select Option C (The Third Way) as the final mission. A week after the game's release, Rockstar Games released it on Volume 1 of The Music of Grand Theft Auto V, the game's soundtrack album, where it appears as track 16. Compared to the in-game track, the official release version of the track has the intro hi-hats shortened.
Almost a year after the track's official release, Favored Nations released a music video for the track. A year after that, Favored Nations released a remixed "GTA V Finale" version of the track on their "The Great Unknown" album[1], with a slightly different intro guitar riff before the hi-hats. This track was also demoed on Soundcloud in 2013.[2] Interestingly enough, the track used in The Third Way is the original version of the track (also used on the radio), despite the remix's title. This track also has a run time of 3:29, compared to the original's 4:03.
