The Mainframe is a film released in 1998 produced by Love Media with advertisments shown in Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories. It is a clear parody of The Matrix, though The Matrix technically did not premiere until 1999. The movie poster shows pedestrians from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
The movie is about five teens who take LSD and discover the 'truth'. They actually live in a computer. Quotes from the movie include
"What will it be? Yes, or no? 1 or 0?"
"Ahh! Your head is actually a big pixel!"
It is rated PS (Pretty Stupid).
Trivia
- The movie breaks the fourth wall of the gaming world, much like the soapboxxers in Grand Theft Auto IV.
- The second man to the left from the middle on the movie's poster looks like rapper and music manager/producer, Alan Crawford, from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. It couldn't possibly be Crawford himself, as he died in 1992. This is just a re-use of San Andreas character models.
- The last female pedestrian to the right, uses the same model as Barbara Schternvart from San Andreas.
