- Not to be confused with The Crook, mission by Marty Chonks in GTA III.
The Cook is a character in the Grand Theft Auto series, who appears as a minor character in Grand Theft Auto IV, The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony.
Background
The Cook is, as named, a cook who worked on the Platypus, and also used this boat to get to Liberty City. At some point before 2008, he stole $2 million worth of diamonds from the Russian mobster Ray Bulgarin.
Events of GTA IV
While the boat was arriving in Liberty City, he is seen adding illegally imported diamonds into a cake mix.
Later, he sold these diamonds to a man named Tony Prince, who was accompanied at the deal by his bodyguard Luis Fernando Lopez and his boyfriend Evan Moss. After Tony bought the diamonds, the group was ambushed by members of The Lost Brotherhood, including Johnny Klebitz, and the Cook fled.
Ray Bulgarin, who believed the diamonds were originally his, thought that the cook and Gay Tony conspired to rob Ray of the diamonds. Bulgarin decapitated the cook, leaving his head in a box on a rooftop for Luis Lopez to find when he walked into an ambush, which Lopez escaped.

Trivia
- In the PC versions of Grand Theft Auto IV & The Lost and Damned, the Cook has a full beard. However, he is clean shaved in the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. In all versions of The Ballad of Gay Tony he is clean shaved.
- In a funny twist, the box that contains The Cook's severed head is actually the same one used earlier by him to smuggle the cake full of diamonds off of the Platypus.
- When Jerry Kapowitz discovers the diamonds, he holds them up in exactly the same way that The Cook did, with the camera angling the same way.
