Tanner, also known as the Sasquatch Hunter, is a character appearing as a random character in Grand Theft Auto V and as a minor character in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of The Chop Shop update.
He is voiced by Bryan Schany.
History[]
Background[]
He is a craftsman and wild hunter who claims to have seen a real Sasquatch in the Chiliad Mountain State Wilderness in Blaine County.
This character does not play any role in the main storyline of both games, appearing as a post-100% completion/seasonal event mission giver. His role in both games are a reference towards the character of the same name and appearance in Rockstar San Diego's Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare.
Events of Grand Theft Auto V[]
The Sasquatch Hunter, whose name is not revealed at the moment, is a character that Franklin Clinton encounters in Raton Canyon in the Chiliad Mountain State Wilderness trying to hunt a Sasquatch. After a conversation, he convinces Franklin to help him. He claims to have been on a Sasquatch's tail for eight years.
After Franklin locates the "Sasquatch", the hunter is never seen again.
During the hidden Golden Peyote Plants trail in the hunt for the Beast, the player will be able to observe what appears to be the hunter's corpse during a Sasquatch hallucination.
Events of Grand Theft Auto Online[]
The Chop Shop[]
The Sasquatch Hunter appears in a seasonal time-limited event. The GTA Online Protagonist receives a message from the hunter, whose contact name is "Tanner" (either his profession or real name), looking for a wild hunter who can hunt a wild creature in Chiliad Mountain State Wilderness, known as the "Yeti from the Chiliad Wilderness".
Character[]
Appearance[]
The hunter has a fake left eye and a scar, which may imply that he was injured by a wild animal.
With the exception of more modern clothing, he shares the same appearance, voice and personality with the Sasquatch Hunter from Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare.
His contact name in Grand Theft Auto Online is a reference to Tanner's Reach, a cabin in Red Dead Redemption in which the Sasquatch Hunter is encountered in Undead Nightmare.

Trivia[]
- Tanner has the same appearance, voice and personality as the Sasquatch Hunter, an alternative reality character seen in Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare, a non-canon expansion for Red Dead Redemption. Moreover, they both sport the same grey (most likely an animal carcass) hat, are blind in their left eye, and have a big bushy beard. However, Tanner's clothing is newer, though in the same color scheme as the Sasquatch Hunter's.
- The player can sometimes hear the hunter say "Gonna make my great grand-daddy proud!", another indirect reference to its iteration in the universe of Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare.
- Although he also tells Franklin that he has been "huntin' that beast longer than Franklin will ever know" and claims that he "spent countless lifetimes in pursuit of the hirsute".
- His phone contact in Grand Theft Auto Online is "Tanner"—appearing in a seasonal random event—a reference to Tanner's Reach, a cabin in Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare in which the Sasquatch Hunter is encountered.
- The hunter claims that he has been hunting the Sasquatch for eight years, therefore indirectly mentioning the year Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was released on PC and Xbox.
- He appears to have been attacked at one point by some kind of wild animal, due to the scars he bears on his face and his blind left eye. It is conceivable he was attacked by a cougar or a bear, since they are native to the region.
- The man exhibits clear signs of extreme paranoia, mistakenly shooting at a hunter who was merely passing through the area and even claiming that sasquatches intentionally wear orange to confuse him.
