The Sweeper is a street sweeper that appears in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
Design[]
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas[]
The Sweeper's exact source of inspiration is unclear, although it can be presumed to be a Teenant road sweeper, upscaled and altered with an enclosed cabin and large rear section.
The Sweeper is designed as a compact, single-seat street sweeper presumably for the purpose of cleaning inner city roadways. The front end features a small bumper with a black/yellow warning stripe and two unusable brushes on the quarters, while the upper area features upper headlights, lower turning lights and an angled windshield.
The sides of the vehicle have small steps and large doors with painted rear-view mirrors and small handles, while the rear section features a sectioned compartment and the fuel tank on the left. The roof of the cab mounts a non-functional amber light bar similar to the Tow Truck and most emergency vehicles, while the rear quarters of the same cab has black/yellow warning stripes.
The rear end features black/yellow warning stripes on the sectioned compartment and bumper, while the middle section features what looks like a vent/handle on the left-hand side. The lower section houses the license plate in the center and rectangular tail lights on either side, while the exhaust can be seen on the underside, partially hidden by the rear bumper.
The Sweeper is one of the three vehicles bearing the logo of San Andreas sanitation company "Sanitary Andreas" around the body, the other two being the Utility Van and the Trashmaster. It only spawns in a white primary color applied to the entire body.
While found parked in certain locations, the Sweeper is not actually seen on the streets performing its duties, nor does it have special functions such as the ability to clean streets.
Performance[]
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas[]
The Sweeper is the second slowest vehicle in the game (with the Mower being the slowest), possessing very poor speed and acceleration due to its small propane engine, as well as fairing badly in cornering due to its light body, oversensitive steering and a high center of gravity that makes rollovers more frequent. This makes the Sweeper a poor choice during wanted levels and is more intended for travelling around the streets, with limited capabilities to sort curbs or larger obstacles.
The Sweeper is powered by a small petrol engine presumably located in the rear given the exhaust's location, and it powers the rear wheel through a 3-speed gearbox. It uses the low-revving and noisy sound from the Baggage and the Tug.

Trivia[]
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas[]
- On the rear end of the Sweeper, there is a misplaced "Sanitary Andreas" logo, located under the right tail light.
- The Sweeper originally had a black color and additional warning stripes on the sectioned compartment in place of the Sanitary Andreas logos. This can be seen in the BradyGames guide.
- In addition, there are white markings in place of company logos.
