Stingers is the name of a heist setup in Grand Theft Auto V. The setup is triggered by a text message from Lester just after the heist-planning meeting together with Gauntlet if the player choses the subtle approach for The Big Score heist.
Description[]
This setup is triggered after choosing the Subtle approach for The Big Score heist.
Just after leaving the strip club, Lester will send a message to each one of the protagonists that he knows about a van equipped with stingers that the crew will need for the heist. The protagonist needs to jump over the wall and, stealthily, knock out the guard patrolling the van. Then, the protagonist needs to deliver the van to the hiding place under the Olympic Freeway behind the strip club.
Mission Objectives[]
- Steal the police van.
- Take the police van to the hiding place.
- Leave the police van.
Gold Medal Objectives[]
- Escapee - Steal the Police Transporter and escape within 02:00.
- Use the LS River and escape the sewage tunnel in Mirror Park if needed.
- Entering by jumping over the wall and getting the van while in stealth mode will not alert the guards, avoiding any police chase and making this objective very easy.
- Alternatively, wearing the highway patrol outfit will act as a disguise to the guards, allowing for another easy escape (Michael and Trevor only).
- Not a Scratch - Deliver the Police Transporter with no damage.
- Avoid crashes when losing the police.
- Using one of the methods described above makes this objective very easy as well.

Oversights[]
- After The Diamond Casino & Resort update for the enhanced versions of Grand Theft Auto Online, an on-screen object reading "Titanium Infinity Exhaust" appears instead of the actual object, "Take the police van to the hiding place.", as the result of a hash collision. This does not affect the original versions of the game.
- The incorrect string is used for the Neo, which shares its Jenkins one-at-a-time hash key,
0x136F182B, with the mission objective's hash key.

Trivia[]
- The guard patrolling the van will be on the phone talking with someone about the Meltdown film. He also mentions Anton Beaudelaire and Milton McIlroy.
- One of the officers near the station will mention Merryweather possibly replacing the LSPD as the main law enforcement agency in Los Santos.
- This mission has the only occasion that a police officer can be harmed without attracting an instant wanted level. Outside of it, no matter if the elimination is stealthy and no other officers are nearby, the player will always get a two-star wanted level.
- Using the Highway Patrol outfit from the mission I Fought the Law... will allow the player to get past the police officers at the side of the station without attracting any attention.
