We hid a digital recorder in Jimmy Capra's car. By now it'll be full of evidence proving he's the Feds's rat.... and probably a cross-dresser too.
Rudy D'Avanzo

Steal the Wheels is a mission in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars given to protagonist Huang Lee by Rudy D'Avanzo.

Rudy D'Avanzo orders Huang to retrieve Jimmy Capra's vehicle from the Messina's compound in Boulevard, which he has put a tape recorder in. So he can listen to the conversations that had taken place in the car and find out whether it was the Messinas who were ratting out the Triads. Huang asks why he hadn't simply bugged the car and accessed the recordings remotely, to which Rudy responded to by explaining how the Messinas scanned their cars for radio waves.

Take any vehicle and go to the Messina's compound in Bohan. There, kill all the Messinas guarding the area or simply ignore them and go straight to the car. Perform a minigame to initiate the vehicle and get out of the compound. Now return to Rudy D'Avanzo; be careful with the Messina's vehicles on the way back. After delivering the car to D'Avanzo, the mission is complete. A risky, but quick way to complete the mission is to get a fast car and drive into the compound as soon as a car is seen driving out of it. Quickly jump in, enter the Cognoscenti then immediately leave and enter it again, all the while ignoring all the Messina goons. Once you're driving it, shoot the nearby Tanker truck to destroy the gate and make a run for it, while avoiding a 2-star wanted level.

Mission Objectives

In order to complete the mission the player must:

  • Go to Messina's compound
  • Get into the compound and steal the car
  • Get in the car
  • Deliver the car to D'Avanzo and watch out for Messina's enforcers

Mission Replay Description

"I needed evidence on Capra before approaching Hsin about him.

Fortunately, D'Avanzo had managed to hide a digital recorder in Capra's car, probably full of all the evidente I'd need.

I just had to collect the car to get the recorder back."
