The Spade is a cut melee weapon in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The model is still present as a cutscene prop.

Design

The Spade, like the Shovel, is a tool intended for digging, lifting and moving bulk material. Unlike the Shovel, however, the Spade has a flat blade with straight edges.

The weapon is mentioned as a cut item in the uncompiled initial.sc script file accidentally left in the original release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition, removed with later patches, containing original Rockstar North developer notes referring to the Shovel and Spade as separate weapons in the same section.

The Spade had only a single known spawn point in Bone County. It was originally found at the Hunter Quarry, although the item was replaced by a regular Shovel in late development:

Despite the weapon being cut, the Spade can still be spotted as a cutscene prop csspade during the two cutscenes in High Noon.

Trivia

• The Spade is one of three cut weapons with known spawn points in the initial.sc file. The others are the Screwdriver and the Hammer, both of which were also replaced with other existing weapons.
