The Republic of Serbia (Serbian: Република Србија, Republika Srbija), more commonly known as Serbia, is a landlocked country located at the crossroads of Central and Southeastern Europe, covering the southern part of the Carpathian Basin and the central part of the Balkans. Formerly part of Yugoslavia, Serbia is bordered by Hungary to the north, Romania and Bulgaria to the east, North Macedonia and Albania to the south, and Croatia, Bosnia, and Montenegro to the west.
