The Republic of Serbia, more commonly known as Serbia (Serbian: Republika Srbija, Cyrillic: Република Србија), is a landlocked country located at the crossroads of Central and Southeastern Europe, covering the southern part of Carpathian basin and the central part of the Balkans. Formerly part of Yugoslavia, Serbia is bordered by Hungary to the north, Romania and Bulgaria to the east, North Macedonia and Albania (through the disputed territory of Kosovo) to the south, and Croatia, Bosnia, and Montenegro to the west.
