Too bad you can't ride the Screamer because what would be better than riding a 100 year-old rollercoaster made out of wood?
Grand Theft Auto IV Manual description.

The Screamer is a roller coaster and historic landmark in Grand Theft Auto IV, Episodes from Liberty City and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars in Firefly Island, Broker, Liberty City. It is located in the Funland amusement park.

Description[]

The wooden rollercoaster ride was built by drunken Europeans in 1908, and is 85 feet tall[ref?]. The player cannot ride the rollercoaster during the events of the game, although at the highest point of the rollercoaster, a Flying Rat can be found.

The ride is mentioned on Tavell Clinton's Lifeinvader account, where in one of his updates, he mentions he took a ride on the rollercoaster that day. This could suggest that the Screamer was opened back up between 2009 and 2013.

Influence[]

The screamer is based on the Coney Island Cyclone[2] located at 801 Riegelmann Boardwalk, Brooklyn, New York, United States.

Trivia[]

  • Although the player technically cannot ride the Screamer, there are means of "riding" it with a car. The northern side of the coaster has a section that reaches the ground, and it has no railing, so the player can take a car and "ride" the Screamer.
  • The inner crossbeams underneath the Screamer are not solid and can be passed through if approached from a certain direction.
