Schottler Medical Center is a hospital in Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars located in Schottler, Broker, Liberty City.

Description[]

Located on Cassidy Street, the hospital is bounded by Carson Street to the east and Algonquin - Dukes Expressway to the north. The main entrance to the facility is located on a horseshoe road that extends from the street and bounds a small park. A car park can be found to the rear of the building, on Carson Street. A police car may sometimes be found parked on Cassidy Street. The hospital appears to be a replica of Brooklyn Hospital Center, though it also exhibits certain characteristics of Wyckoff Heights Medical Center.

Contrary to its rendition in GTA Chinatown Wars, the hospital is accessible in GTA IV. The main corridor of the emergency department leads to two wards with three beds each, on which civilians with very low health may be found lying. Each ward is pierced by two single and double doors and an unbreakable window. The double door leading to the southern ward is locked. To the east is a small perpendicular corridor that leads to a single ward, equipped with cabinetry and a life-support machine that, if broken, will emit electrical sparks similarly to, for example, payphones. The interior of the hospital is identical to that of Westdyke Memorial Hospital in Leftwood, Alderney.

Events of Grand Theft Auto IV[]

Jon Gravelli was admitted at Schottler Medical Center in 2005 for an "allegedly serious illness" according to his criminal record. Still hospitalised in 2008 at the time of GTA IV, he assigned several missions to Niko. He resided at the facility until his death at the age of 85, right after the end of the game.

Trivia[]

  • A room lit by a curious red glimmer can be found in the minor injuries unit (vide Gallery).
  • The voice of a radio dispatcher, the same that can be heard as a voice-over if the player gets a wanted level, can be heard emanating from the phone placed on the emergency department desk. The dispatcher will periodically ask for medical teams to be dispatched to locations in Broker and, curiously, Dukes. The player may hear, for example: "Dispatch paramedic team to a burning building in Willis", or "I need a medical team for a shootout in East Island City".
  • If the player tries to get to the hospital by taxi, Niko will tell the driver to go to Algonquin-Dukes Expressway.
  • One of the Chinese paintings seen next to Jon Gravelli's bed appears on the mission replay board in all of Huang Lee's safehouses in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.
