This article refers to a vehicle in Grand Theft Auto 2 and Grand Theft Auto Advance. For a similarly named vehicle in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, see S.W.A.T. (vehicle), or for the HD Universe counterparts, see Enforcer and Police Riot.
The SWAT Van is a police van in Grand Theft Auto 2 and Grand Theft Auto Advance. The vehicle's name is spelled as "Swat Van" in GTA 2.
Description[]
The vehicle is evidently a police van used to carry SWAT teams when the player attains a wanted level of four heads/stars. The vehicle is comparatively larger and more durable, appearing in tandem with lighter but faster police cars. Being a van with two front doors and two more at the back, the van will usually unload four SWAT team members.
Design[]
Grand Theft Auto[]
The van was set to appear in Grand Theft Auto but was cut for an unknown reason. The van can still be found on the official Grand Theft Auto promotional website under "The Special Cars Lot" section.
Grand Theft Auto 2[]
In Grand Theft Auto 2, the van is part of the Anywhere City Police Department vehicle fleet, appearing in the Downtown, Residential, and Industrial Districts of Anywhere City. The cab and front end appears to be similar to that of the Truck Cab SX.
Grand Theft Auto Advance[]
The Grand Theft Auto Advance rendition of the vehicle now serves as part of the LCPD force. The van comes in black with the "SWAT" stencil on the roof. It probably has the same size as the Belly and the Wong. The SWAT Van can also be used to activate Vigilante side-missions.
Performance[]
Grand Theft Auto 2[]
The van tends to be heavier and more durable than police cars, providing the police force an advantage if the player continues to drive a lighter, weaker vehicle. The Swat Van is slow but compensates with its excellent acceleration.
Grand Theft Auto Advance[]
The SWAT Van has an above average top speed, but may be prone to toppling over. Again, the vehicle proves to be heavier and durable, able to sort obstacles like roadblocks.
