To the casual observer, the Rogue looks like a classic, single-prop training aircraft. And that's exactly what you want them to think. Because with room for machine guns, missiles, anti-intercept countermeasures and a full-size bomb bay, you'll have those casual observers to puddles of speechless blood and piles of stupefied bones all day long. School's out.
Please note: This aircraft is excluded from Pegasus Lifestyle Management and must be stored in a personal hangar.
Warstock Cache & Carry description.

The Western Company Rogue is a trainer attack plane featured in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of the Smuggler's Run update.

Design[]

Grand Theft Auto Online[]

The Rogue appears to combine elements of the Beechcraft T-6 Texan II (general body shape, rotor blades and primary purpose), the Embraer EMB 312 Tucano (wings and stabilizer shape) and the Pilatus PC-21 (cabin).

The Rogue is depicted with a rather large size and long fuselage, where the front section houses a four-blade propeller with a small intake below, large exhausts on either side and dual hatches for the nose landing gear, along with a circular taxi light on the gear strut. The main section features a long cockpit with dual sliding canopies for the occupants, while the wings have black surfaces on the front, outer ailerons and inner air brakes on the rear, hatches for the main la ding gear and four weapon hard-points on its wings (two per side). The tail boom is relatively long and bears the star emblem that denotes its affiliation with the Military, while the empennage has black surfaces on the horizontal stabilizers. The interior of the aircraft uses the same "Lazer" textures and dial set from fighter jets such as the P-996 LAZER and the Hydra, albeit duplicated for both seats. The pilot sits on the front seat, while the co-pilot sits on the rear one.

The vehicle is painted with a primary color for the body, as well as a secondary color for the lower portion of the front intake, the bolted-on trims of the canopies, and the tips on the wings, vertical stabilizer, and lower fins. It uses a set of industrial wheels derived from trucks such as the Benson, the Mule and the Phantom.

The aircraft can be equipped with either a set of 7.62mm machine guns resembling AN/M-B machine gun pods, or a set of explosive cannons apparently resembling 12.7mm gun pods, as well as rocket launchers resembling SBAT 70mm rocket launchers, and bombs.

Performance[]

Grand Theft Auto Online[]

Vehicle[]

The Rogue is a relatively simple aircraft to fly, as it has a high top speed of 353 kph/191 knots while flying above 250 meters/820 feet, and average acceleration. It is the fastest propeller plane, as well as the third fastest vehicle in the game (outpaced by the Pyro and F-160 Raiju). The Rogue's handling is responsive but with extremely powerful rudders (30 degrees per second), making yaw inputs extremely sensitive. The aircraft has a much longer take-off roll compared to other fighter aircraft, making take-offs with limited space a challenge. While flying, it is very important to pull up the landing gear since it causes it to lose a significant amount of maneuverability, airspeed and will be pulled downwards towards the ground. The undercarriage setup provides good stability, and the plane does not tip over as easily as aircraft such as the P-996 LAZER and the Besra, but care should be taken on the front, as the large propeller blades may scratch with any obstacle and end up braking, rendering the aircraft inoperative.

The aircraft is powered by a single turboprop engine, as indicated in the website and the in-game model. Its engine sound is somewhat mid-revving and noisy, being more or less similar to piston-powered aircraft like the Alpha-Z1 and the Seabreeze.

Defense[]

The Rogue, with upgraded armor, is almost twice as resistant to bullet damage as airplanes without armor upgrades. It takes about eighteen Heavy Sniper rounds to completely destroy the aircraft. The Rogue can also withstand two direct hits from the Homing Launcher or Explosive rounds from the Heavy Sniper Mk II, blowing up on the third hit. However, any explosive damage to the control surfaces of the aircraft will knock them off, potentially leaving the aircraft unable to maneuver.

Countermeasures[]

The vehicle can be fitted with countermeasures to improve its defensive capabilities against homing missiles, each one with their own attributes:

  • The Chaff countermeasure disrupts the targeting system from missile launchers, rendering them unable to lock on the aircraft for five seconds. They have a delay of five seconds before being used again and only have 10 uses.
  • The Flare countermeasure drops various flares from around the rear of the aircraft, which can "disorient" the homing missile in order to avoid chasing the aircraft. They have a delay of three seconds before being used again and only have 20 uses.
  • The Smoke countermeasure creates a trail of smoke that can disorient the enemy pilot, but its effectiveness is very limited, as the trail is large enough for a standard cockpit and the enemy pilot would just need to move away and follow the smoke trail. It has no delay between uses and can be used indefinitely.

Weaponry[]

The Rogue has access to an array of weapons mainly operated by the pilot:

  • Machine Gun: the first option is a set of dual machine gun pods, which behave like most front-facing machine guns from most aircraft introduced in the Smuggler’s Run update. These machine guns are ideal for air-to-air engagements, as they can cause severe damage to unarmored aircraft, provided the pilot manages to stay behind it. The damage inflicted against vehicles is greater than with the Heavy Sniper, with a base damage of 250 (versus 216 and its Mk II variant 230), and the machine guns on either side have a fire rate of 300 rounds per minute. They have a maximum range of 250 meters/820 feet. However, because of the gun placement, the machine guns struggle to hit the target at the same time when flying too close.
  • Explosive MG: the second option is a set of dual explosive cannon pods, which behave similar to those from fighter jets such as the P-996 LAZER or the Hydra, but have a slower firing rate (240 rounds per minute versus the jets' fire rate of 900 rounds per minute prior to their nerf, fired from each machine gun), decreased damage (50% damage of a homing missile), and reduced explosive splash radius (two meters compared to the jets’ blast radius of five meters prior to their nerf), though with slightly increased range (200 meters compared to the jets' range of 180 meters). This makes the guns a poor choice for air-to-ground engagements, as the reduced splash radius makes it difficult for the pilot to take out targets on foot, combined with the movement of the plane. However, they can still destroy unarmored vehicles in a single shot and can cause severe damage against other aircraft. Again, the gun placement makes the weapon struggle to hit the target at the same time when flying too close.
  • Missiles: the Rogue can have a set of two missile pods, which can be fired in either homing or non-homing mode. These missiles cannot be fired continuously, similar to the P-996 LAZER, Hydra and Buzzard Attack Chopper, since they have a short "reload" time after firing two missiles in quick succession. Their tracking capabilities are somewhat on par with most weaponized aircraft, and has a 300 meter/984 foot lock-on range. They can also fly for five seconds before detonating and can travel 540 meters/1772 feet.
  • The vehicle has the option for installing bombs, providing heavy firepower against ground targets. There are four different Bomb choices: Explosive, Incendiary, Gas and Cluster;
    • The Explosive option has high damage over targets from all ranges, meaning any target caught in the "edges" of the blast radius receive the same damage as in the "center".
    • The Incendiary option creates a trail of fire similar to the Molotov Cocktail, burning the targets for a constant damage. Although the bombs are powerful at the center, it causes less damage on the "edges".
    • The Gas option causes a noxious effect on players and NPCs on impact, similar to the Tear Gas. It has a slightly larger blast radius than the standard bomb, but is unable to damage vehicles. The gas lasts for around 25 seconds.
    • The Cluster option creates a smaller explosion than the standard one on impact, but small clusters spread within its radius, allowing for greater damage over a single armored target.

If a player sits in the co-pilot seat, the owner of the vehicle can toggle control of the bomb bay, but the co-pilot needs good coordination with the pilot to make this tactic as effective as possible.
