Ransom is the penultimate mission in Grand Theft Auto III. It is automatically triggered following the completion of the S.A.M. mission for Asuka Kasen and is started by protagonist Claude on a construction site in Fort Staunton, Staunton Island, Liberty City.
Mission
Claude enters the construction site's elevator and, after reaching the top floor, finds Miguel and Asuka Kasen dead and Maria Latore missing, having been taken hostage. Claude takes a ransom letter from Catalina from a pole, which Miguel is impaled on, and reads it, walking back to the elevator quickly.
Deaths
- Asuka Kasen - Killed off-screen during S.A.M. from an unknown cause or assailant, possibly by Catalina.
- Miguel - Killed off-screen during S.A.M. from an unknown cause or assailant, possibly by Catalina.
Reward
The reward for completing this mission is $45,000 (the reward from the previous mission, S.A.M.) and the final mission, The Exchange, is unlocked, providing Claude has $500,000 available.
