Pre-Millennium Radio was a 90s alternative rock/grunge radio station that was cut from the final release of Grand Theft Auto V.
Description
Pre-Millennium Radio was, as its name suggested, a 90s alternative rock/grunge station that was cut before the final release of GTA V. Remains of the radio station include the station's abbreviated logo, likely intended to be used on the Radio Wheel, as well as the station's full name and track names found on a PlayStation 3 developer build of GTA V[1]. Vinewood Boulevard Radio is called "RADIO_18_90S_ROCK", so it is likely that Vinewood Boulevard Radio replaced Pre-Millennium Radio.
Playlist
GTA V's trackID.gxt2 database reveals songs that were planned to appear on the station, before the station was scrapped.
- Faith No More - The Real Thing (1989)[2][3]
- Mansun - Wide Open Space (1996)[4][5]
- Oasis - (It's Good) To Be Free (1994)[6][7]
- Staind - It's Been Awhile (2001)[8][9]
- Stereophonics - Mr. Writer (2001)[10][11]
- The Charlatans - The Only One I Know (1990)[12][13]
- Travis - Side (2001)[14][15]
Alongside the trackID.gtx2 database, more songs were found in an early build of GTA V on a dev PlayStation 3 that might have originally been on Pre-Millennium Radio, before the station was scrapped and the songs moved to Los Santos Rock Radio.[16]
- Alanis Morissette - You Oughta Know (1995)
- The Cranberries - Linger (1993)
Trivia
- The beta radio wheel for Pre-Millennium Radio resembles the Nine Inch Nails logo, sharing the rectangular box design with the letters inside of it and the last letter flipped, which in this case is the letter "R".
- Pre-Millennium Radio could've been based on the real-life radio station KROQ-FM that broadcasts around Los Angeles, California, as it also plays alternative rock.
