Port Gellhorn[1] is a city in an unknown county of Leonida that is due to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI.

Description

The city appears to be an expansive, but largely rural city, with commercial and residental infrastructure spread out throughout the city, with heavy forestation and wide open grassy areas in between. While little of the city has been shown in the game's first trailer, much more of the area has been seen in September 2022 leaks, showing more commercial locations and other infrastructure.

Influence

The city's general location and several of its points of interests depicted in the GTA VI September 2022 leaks, as well as the game's first trailer, suggest the city is primarily based on Panama City, Florida.

The city's name likely pays homage to Martha Gellhorn, an American novelist and journalist who covered the U.S. invasion of Panama in 1989. Later, she travelled to Panama City to report on civilian casualties resulting from the invasion. Both the city of Panama in Panama itself and the Florida city of the same name (which Port Gellhorn draws inspiration from) are named after the country situated on the Panama Canal.
