"Greatness awaits."
―Motto[1]

The PlayStation 4, (stylized as PLAYSTATION 4), or PS4, is Sony's fourth gaming console and the successor of the PlayStation 3 and will be succeeded by the PlayStation 5. It is in direct competition with the Xbox One and the Nintendo Wii U and Switch and was released on November 15, 2013.

It is more powerful than the PS3; moving away from the Cell Architecture of the PS3. It consists of an 8 core AMD Jaguar based CPU, a GPU based on an AMD Radeon 7870 and 8GB GDDR5 unified memory. On September 7, 2016, a high-end version named PlayStation 4 Pro was released, which featured an upgraded GPU and a higher CPU clock rate to support enhanced performance and 4K resolution in supported games.
