The FlyUS variant of the Dinka Perennial is a five-door minivan exclusive to Grand Theft Auto IV and its episodes.

Influence[]

Along with the FlyUS Feroci, the overall utility design of the car doesn't seem to be directly inspired by any vehicle used by airlines nor airports in real life.

The vehicle's yellow colored roof and checkered pattern, combined with it being usually found driving around the airport apron, might be inspired by the "Follow-Me" cars. However, the in-game car lacks any writings stating such purpose, also featuring singular beacon light, while the real-life "Follow-Me" cars utilize siren bars.

The fact of both Feroci and Perennial being rather spacious cars might hint that the design is intended to be either a shuttle service specifically around the airport apron (however such vehicles often bear airport logos instead of airline logos) or airline crew transport vehicle[1]. In both of those scenarios in real-life however, buses or cutaway vans which can hold a significant amount of people are mostly used instead.

When ignoring the airline's livery, the vehicle's utility design is much more reminiscent of real-life transport cars used around ports' industrial areas, with such vehicles indeed utilizing singular yellow beacon lights, accompanied by the port's logo[2] or simple checkered pattern[3]. The yellow beacon light is used to increase its visibility to straddle carrier and gantry crane operators, since both such cranes and cars often navigate through the container bays simultaneously. However, considering the fact that Francis International Airport doesn't feature such lifting machinery and – due to its livery – the vehicle is evidently associated with commercial aviation, the purpose of this Perennial's variant remains ambiguous.

Design[]

This variant of the Perennial is used by FlyUS, the fictional airline featured in GTA IV. This variant bears a white color with a FlyUS red and yellow livery, a solid roof and a roof-mounted beacon that can be broken, revealing to have a similar rotator detail to those of emergency vehicles such as the Fire Truck and the Police Cruiser. This beacons light is unusable by the player and is never seen lit up. This variant is cosmetically distinct from the ordinary Perennial in that it has no "PERENNIAL" badging on the rear compartment, though it retains the manufacturer badges and the "MPV AW" badging.

The Perennial is equipped with a GPS system with a male voice, but only if the player leaves the "selected cars" (default) option in the audio menu.

Performance[]

The FlyUS variant has identical performance and engine sound to the civilian Perennial. However, while the civilian Perennial has no ABS, the FlyUS variant does.

Prominent Appearances in Gameplay[]

The Lost and Damned[]

Locations[]

  • They are commonly found at Francis International Airport in Dukes, specifically at the airport apron and terminal's parking lot.
  • They can also be found driving around the airport with FlyUS Ferocis, and on rare occasions, Ripleys. Large groups of them may spawn on the access road adjacent to the runway, although obtaining them from here is dangerous as doing so may cause the player to move into the restricted area surrounding the runway, giving them a four-star wanted level.

Radio Stations[]

The Perennial has the following defaultdefaultstations dictated by the vehicle, not set by any previous NPC occupant's preference radio station(s):
