The State of Palestine (Arabic: دولة فلسطين, Dawlat Filasṭīn), simply known as Palestine, is a state with limited recognition located in the Southern Levant, Middle East.
Palestinian territory named West Bank is bordered by Jordan to the east, and by Israel to the north, west and south. Another territory named Gaza Strip is bordered by Egypt to the southwest, and by Israel to the north, east and south. On the west side, the Gaza Strip is bounded by the Mediterranean Sea.
Despite the claimed territories, most of the West Bank, as well as West Jerusalem, is controlled by the Israeli government. The Gaza Strip is controlled by the Islamic political and military organization Hamas, which has also been designated as a terrorist organization by some countries and the European Union.
