Northwood is a large neighborhood in the northernmost part of Algonquin, Liberty City.
Character
Northwood is mostly made up of small stores and public housing projects. Despite this, the northern part of the neighborhood has many green areas and abandoned piers. The area is somewhat deprived and poverty-ridden, though Dwayne Forge owns a penthouse in the area, which his former protege Trey Stewart lived in. Northwood's demographic is mainly African-American and Latino (mainly Dominican). The Northwood Heights Bridge connects Algonquin with Bohan, starting from the north end of Frankfort Avenue in Northwood. Northwood is bordered to the south by both North Holland and East Holland.
Northwood has a high crime rate, with drug dealing and gang violence commonplace on its many housing projects. The area is controlled by a diverse mix of gangs, including the North Holland Hustlers, Uptown Riders, Angels of Death and Northwood Dominican Drug Dealers.
Influences
Northwood is based on a mixture of two real life neighborhoods of Manhattan, Inwood and Washington Heights.
