NeedleTrax

The Needle Trax store in Downtown Vice City in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories.

Needle Trax is a music retailer in Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories.

Description

Needle Trax is a music store and is likely in competition with Vinyl Countdown, as they both sell vinyl records and cassette tapes.

It had two stores in Vice City in 1984, one in Downtown and another in the Vice Point Mall, Vice Point. In 1998, there was also one that operated in Portland View in Liberty City.

The Vice Point Mall location has a accessible interior, showing various displays of records being sold, a counter and posters for the band Prix.

By 1986 (the setting of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City), both locations in Vice City have been converted to other businesses. The Downtown store has become a Rock City location, while the Vice Point Mall location has become a SALE location.

By 2001 (the setting of Grand Theft Auto III), the Needle Trax location in Liberty City has become a Classic Nails.

Trivia

The name of the business is a reference to the term needle tracks, which refers to the discolored marks on a heroin user's arm after the injection site becomes infected. It is also a reference to the "tracks", or grooves, on the surface of a vinyl record which the needle runs through.
