Manhunt Wiki has an article on NAG

NAG is a company in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Manhunt and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas that manufactures heavy machinery.

Description[]

Little is known about the company, but NAG cranes/excavators can be found at the Vice City Junkyard in Little Haiti, Vice City, the Dentons City Junkyard in Carcer City, and the Angel Pine Junkyard in Whetstone, San Andreas. They cannot be entered or driven by the player and exist solely as static props.

Influence[]

The NAG seems to be an amalgamation of several heavy machinery companies. Although the three-letter and all-yellow paint scheme could point towards the Caterpillar influence, the NAG's logo seems to be edited American Crane Corporation logo; more specifically, it seems to be taken from the American 5299, as indicated by the markings. The smaller crawl crane seems to be modeled after the 5299, although it may also draw inspiration from the Link-Belt LS 98 and the Weserhütte W 320. The larger excavator, with "972" markings, is based on the Liebherr R972. Additionally, the "972" features a logo on the boom that appears to be an altered JBC logo.

Notably, both GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas prominently display an older logo of the real Belgian company Herbosch-Kiere. This company previously owned a barge named Agem One, which carried both the Liebherr R972 and the American 5299 at various times. Coupled with the all-yellow paint scheme, this may suggest that the textures were derived from this particular vessel.

Oversights[]

  • The scale of the cranes/excavators is incorrect; it seems to be double the size of the actual machinery.
  • In Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, the texture mapping on both vehicles seems to be incorrect. On the "972," the whole body seems to be incorrectly mapped, while on the smaller crane, the tracks use body texture.
