Mr. Lee is a character mentioned in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.
History[]
Background[]
Not much is known about Mr. Lee, other than that he was a Triad boss in Kowloon, Hong Kong, the father of Huang Lee, and the brother of Wu "Kenny" Lee, the second most powerful leader of the Triads in Liberty City. At some point, he won the Yu Jian Sword in a card game, and made up a tradition where the sword has been the keeping for the head of the Lee Family. Despite being a crime boss, he is implied to have been a good father to Huang, mentoring him in the life of crime. According to Huang, he worshipped two things in life: cocaine and cheap prostitutes.
In 2009, as part of a "loyalty test" given by the Liberty City Triads' leader, Hsin Jaoming, Lee's brother Kenny was asked to steal the Yu Jian sword in exchange for Hsin's position of Triad boss, since Hsin was planning to retire that year. Kenny had his brother killed in Kowloon to become the family's new patriarch and gain ownership of the sword. Huang managed to secure the sword and swore revenge on his father's grave.
Events of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars[]
After the murder of Huang's father, the Yu Jian sword is flown from Hong Kong to Liberty City, to be delivered to Kenny. However, Kenny ordered the Wonsu Nodong to steal the sword and kill Huang as soon as he arrives in the city. Huang is ambushed and shot in the head by the Wonsu Nodong at the Francis International Airport, while Yu Jian is stolen.
By sheer luck, Huang survives and subsequently meets with Kenny, telling him about the ambush. Kenny feigns ignorance and decides to employ his nephew, using him as muscle against his rivals while misleading him by claiming he is investigating Yu Jian's theft.
Eventually, with the help of LCPD undercover cop Wade Heston, Huang finds out the truth about his father's death and the real reason behind the theft of the Yu Jian sword, and kills Kenny to avenge his father.
Trivia[]
- In Huang's mission replay board, a paper from the Whan-Q Bank signed by someone called "Whan Wong Lee" can be seen, who may or may not be Mr. Lee.
