Melanie Mallard's Cameraman is a minor character appearing in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.

History[]

Background[]

The cameraman is a resident of Liberty City and was working as a news broadcast cameraman on Weazel's Channel 15 for journalist Natalie Vanet. After Vanet was killed during an undercover job at the Yardies-owned South Slopes Drug Factory in 2009, she is replaced by documentary filmmaker Melanie Mallard, an associate of Chan Jaoming from the Liberty City Triads.

Events of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars[]

In 2009, Huang Lee is sent by Chan Jaoming to kidnap Melanie and destroy her documentary tapes, since Melanie did not think about blurring the Triads' faces or their names.

Huang breaks into the Channel 15 Studio inside the Cherenkov Vodka warehouse in Hove Beach, so the cameraman and Melanie hide in a room while waiting for the guards to kill Huang, which does not happen. The camera flees in a van with the recordings and Huang takes advantage of knocking out Melanie. Then, Huang chases and destroys the van in which the cameraman fled, killing him instantly and destroying Melanie's footage. Shortly after, Melanie is killed by Chan Jaoming.
