Meadows Park is a neighborhood and public park in Grand Theft Auto IV, Episodes from Liberty City and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars located in the northern region of Dukes, Liberty City.
Description[]
Meadows Park is bounded to the west by San Jacinto Avenue (Cerveza Heights and East Island City) and Hewes Street (Steinway); to the north by Dukes Bay; and to the east by Francis International Airport, Willis and Meadow Hills.
The neighborhood is marked by its eponymous park, famous for hosting a world fair in the 1960s[1] (alluding to the 1964 New York World's Fair) leaving behind such vestiges as The Monoglobe. The park extends north, beyond a museum, to incorporate outdoor tennis courts, a baseball field and the Liberty State Pavilion Towers.
The park is bounded to the west by Savannah Avenue, dotted with 15 townhouses. It is also home to Meadows Park Church.
Influence[]
Meadows Park is based on Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens, New York. The Monoglobe and the Liberty State Pavilion Towers are renditions of the Unisphere and the New York State Pavilion respectively. Meadows Park Museum is scaled down rendition of the Queens Museum of Art, while the statues between the building and the Monoglobe are expanded renditions of Donald De Lue's Rocket Thrower and Marshall M. Fredericks' Freedom of the Human Spirit. Both real-life inspirations are located within Flushing Meadows Park.
