The Matador, also referred to as the HHR, is a four-door compact crossover SUV that was removed from the final release of Grand Theft Auto V. The vehicle is shown only in a render found in Simeon's office in-game and makes what appears to be a brief appearance in GTA V's first trailer.
Description[]
The vehicle was initially referred to solely as the HHR, a designation derived from the label located in the bottom right corner of the render discovered in Simeon's office at Premium Deluxe Motorsport. The name and texture details of the vehicle were later discovered in the 2023 source code leak,[1][2] officially identifying it as the Matador.
Originally, the Matador was intended to appear as an ambient vehicle in the mission Paparazzo, but it was ultimately substituted with the Rocoto.[3]
Influence[]
While the texture of the render is relatively low in quality and details are difficult to discern, the complete design is illustrated from all perspectives. The vehicle primarily draws inspiration from the Chevrolet HHR, albeit with a more angular design. The front end seems to be influenced by the 2002–2006 Dodge Ram, whereas the rear end appears to take cues from the second-generation Ford Expedition. The distinctive greenhouse section seems to be modeled after either the first-generation Chevrolet Orlando, the first-generation Chevrolet Traverse, or the first-generation Kia Mohave (HM).
