|For other characters with the same name, see Mary (disambiguation).|
Mary is a staunch Conservative, so Conservative that she occasionally preaches Fascism. She has cheated on her husband with at least one person, the show's producer, whether it be alone with him or in a threesome with her husband.
Mary often victimizes and verbally abuses her husband, a staunch Liberal, live on air because of his political views, which almost always differ from hers. At the end of one episode of I Say/You Say, she tells the listeners to support a Totalitarian state, implying that she is, indeed, Fascist.
- She may be named after the actress Mary Phillips.
- She also is a reflection (albeit exaggerated and lampooned) of Mary Matlin, the conservative political commentator and columnist who is similarly married to a more liberal activist, James Carville.
