GTA Wiki's "what didn't happen" stance

It is important to keep a page's description relevant to two things: the page title, and the Grand Theft Auto series. The GTA series is many things, and can be broken down into more than just the games themselves, but also the fiction behind them, the data they use and the way things behave in-game, even in non-player situations.

On the GTA Wiki, it is believed that addressing content that does not exist, did not happen, or is otherwise missing (with the exception of referenced Beta content) does not belong on the wiki. Fundamentally, readers come to the GTA Wiki to read about what exists, what happened and what things relate to, both within the GTA series' fictional universe and the real world. The list of things that haven't happened or don't exist in Grand Theft Auto is far, far longer than what does, and as such, GTA Wiki should not and will not hold a promise that everything that does not exist is documented.

Examples of what may count as "didn't happen"
  • Addressing what is missing from a vehicle when compared to its real-life counterpart.
  • Pointing out missions which could have existed, such as setup missions or portions of the storyline which did not occur.
  • Outlining well-known, real-life objects or entities, such as buildings, cars or people, which are not present in GTA.
What can be accepted when concerning things that didn't happen
  • Beta vehicles, characters, missions and places, so long as they are cited.
  • Comparisons between official content and in-game content, such as official screenshots, artwork and trailers.
  • Documenting what has happened or existed once, but no longer does, such as cut-content, patches or updates.
