Mamucium, also known as Mancunium, is a former Roman fort located in Castlefield in Manchester, England, that appears in Grand Theft Auto: London 1961.

Description[]

The ruins of the Roman fort can be found in the Castlefield area of Manchester, simply referred to as "East Manchester" on the HUD.

The Mamucium shares its model and textures with the Tower of London from the original London map, except that the Tower of London features the inner gardens and the Queens House.

Influence[]

In real life, the Roman fort of Mamucium was built in 79 AD near the confluence of River Medlock (absent in-game) and River Irwell. It was constructed to guard strategically important roads to larger Roman forts located in Chester, York, and Ribchester.
