Lyle Cleethorpes is a celebrity in the Grand Theft Auto series, who appears in Grand Theft Auto IV.

Biography

Lyle Cleethorpes (or Lyle Cleethorpes V, as he wants to be known) is an heir to a five-generation, century-old family fortune built on tobacco and the slave trade. He is regarded by most to be a waste of the family fortune, and is allegedly a product of inbreeding. Suspicions arose that he still has business interests in the Southeast Asian sweatshops and slave trades. He aspires to be famous, which is why he built the Cleethorpes Tower located in Hatton Gardens, Algonquin. He also garners considerable media attention for his meth addiction and pastime of driving (and crashing) fast cars and bikes while high on drugs.

Inspiration

Cleethorpes is based on Josh Astor and David Mayer de Rothschild, both young surviving members of the world's two richest families of the 1800s. The Cleethorpes Tower bears significant resemblance to the Trump Tower owned by businessman Donald Trump, and Lyle was made a young businessman much like Trump's five children.

Another possible inspiration might be taken from two films made by Johnson & Johnson's heir Jamie Johnson. His films discuss many conditions, mainly that rich children feel like they have nothing to do with their lives if they do not have to work their whole lives in pursuit of money. One heir in "Born Rich" briefly discusses heavy drug use among extremely wealthy children. Heiresses Ivanka Trump and Nicole Buffett are also among those interviewed, Nicole being partially disowned by grandfather Warren Buffett for some of the comments she made in the film.
