The Los Santos Department of Water & Power (LSDWP), alternately called the San Andreas Department of Water & Power (SADWP) is a public utility company in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online.
Description[]
The company provides natural gas and electricity to the city of Los Santos and most of the State of San Andreas. The player can also buy stocks from the company at the Bawsaq.com website.
LSDWP are strongly opposed to wind power, making commercials and promoting campaigns claiming that large, slow-moving wind turbines are dangerous to birds. Despite this, the company appears to operate several windmills in the RON Alternates Wind Farm under their subsidiary, the Los Santos Department of Wind Power. The company's website reveals they are working with state and federal officials to build a pipeline from the Canadian lakes to bring fresh water to the homes of Los Santos. The company also uses "Clean Coal" to power Los Santos, obtaining this by blowing up the tops of the Appalachian Mountains. However, the byproduct of this extraction process fills up the rivers and valleys, harming the environment.
The company's in-game website is www.sawaterandpower.com.
Subsidiaries[]
- Los Santos Department of Wind Power
- Los Santos Department of Green Power
- Los Santos Department of Nuclear Power
Radio Commercial[]
Imaging Voice: "We all care about the environment. Some more than others, especially those of us on the West Coast. But places thousands of miles away have water that is our birth right! We're San Andreas Water & Power. Without our tireless efforts to keep the water and subsidies flowing, San Andreas could dry up like a woman in her 50's. No green lawns, no swimming pools, no lush golf courses in the desert. Sure, you may have to pay the piper sometime, but let's all work together to make sure it's not just yet. San Andreas Water & Power."
Influence[]
The company is likely based on the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power and the California Department of Water Resources. The logo for the company is based on that of Southern California Edison while the color scheme is taken from PG&E.
