Not to be confused with the Lokus, a four-door sedan in Grand Theft Auto IV.
The Locust is an open-top, two-seater sports car featured in Grand Theft Auto: London 1969 and Grand Theft Auto Online as part of the continuation of The Diamond Casino & Resort update, released on August 29, 2019, during the Locust Week event. It is manufactured by Ocelot in the HD Universe.
Design
Grand Theft Auto: London 1969
The Locust is evidently based on a Lotus Seven circa the 1960s.
Grand Theft Auto Online
The Locust returns to Grand Theft Auto Online, assuming the design based on the 2015 Lotus 3-Eleven. The headlamps are derived from the Honda HSV-010 GT, while the front bumper seems to be inspired by the one found in the Lotus Evora. The rear fascia is heavily inspired by the Aston Martin CC100 and the Zenos E10. The interior might have been inspired by the Lotus 2-Eleven.
Design
Grand Theft Auto: London 1969
The Locust can be described as a compact, open top roadster tailored more for raw performance than comfort or luxury. The car may also be available with two additional body colour styles: one with a running stripe at the front end, and another with a differently coloured nose.
Grand Theft Auto Online
The Locust is depicted as an open-top race car with a relatively short body and wheelbase. The front end sports a large intake on the centre and two smaller ones with separations on it. There are silver strips on the outer edges housing the circular headlamps, while a vented section can be seen between these. The bonnet features a small cut-out for a fuel inlet/filter that is part of a fuel cell stored in the front compartment, and a manufacturer emblem on the front.
The sides feature large concave portions running along the doors, going onto the vertical vents located past the doors. The doors themselves have rounded rear-view mirror shells mounted on thin frames. The cabin area features a black rounded panel with a slight curvature in place of a windscreen, as well as an arch section with crossed frames that separates it from the engine bay, followed by black louvers on the engine compartment. A fuel inlet can be seen on the driver side.
The rear end sports a protruding carbon-fibre panel with a plastic surrounding, with circular tail lamps placed on the outer edges, silver "OCELOT" lettering on the centre and a plate holder below. A rear diffuser can be seen at the bottom, leaving an open section for the twin exhaust pipes. It also features a spoiler by default. The underside of the car is fully covered by a bolted-on, carbon-fibre plate, with the front section leaving small room for the front wheels' steering.
Similar to the Ruston, the Locust features an interior predominated by race elements, where the dashboard has a carbon-fiber panel on the centre. Two carbon-fibre bars stick out of the driver-side dashboard, holding the digital speedometer. The doors are reinforced by two steel tube bars on the inner side and featuring carbon-fibre surroundings, having door pull straps on it. The car also features racing seats with red seatbelts on them.
The primary colour of the car is applied on the body and the stitches on the steering wheel, while the secondary colour is applied in the form of twin wide stripes passing through the whole car and on the cabin arch frame. Although not accessible, the trim colour is applied to the paddings on the optional "Roll Cage" modifications, while the dial colour is applied to the "Colored Seats" options (though they are set to black in purchased examples). Its wheels use the same rim design as the T20.

Performance
Grand Theft Auto: London 1969
Being built in such a way, the car's weight is only 62.5% of an average car's weight. The car's performance is also considerably good, with excellent top speed and brakes, as well as good acceleration and 20% less of a turning radius than average; however, the car is lacking in grip and handling.
Grand Theft Auto Online
The Locust is a well-performing vehicle, though it tends to slide at times, which can result in spinning out if turning too aggressively. In addition, due to the openness of the cabin, the driver is vulnerable to gunfire and caution should be exercised if driving the vehicle while gunfight is present. The Locust performs differently when armored and unarmored, having a very stiff chassis with the latter. This can cause a rear inner wheel lift when cornering.
The Locust has one (the eleventh) Advanced Flag enabled.[1] The purpose of this flag is unknown, but it appears to have little impact on performance.
The vehicle is powered by a V8 engine similar to the Elegy RH8, coupled to a 6-speed gearbox in a rear-mid engine, rear wheel drive layout. The engine sound is similar to cars like the Stinger and the Cheburek.

General
- The Locust is one of eleven vehicles in the HD Universe to return from the 2D Universe, the others being the Z-Type, Tour Bus, Panto, Furore GT, Mamba, Penetrator, Itali GTB, Impaler, Itali GTO, and Jugular.
- Interestingly, there also exists a similarly name Locust, a kit car derivative of the Lotus Seven, as well as the Locost, a low-cost variant of the Lotus Seven.
Grand Theft Auto: London 1969
- When the drivers of the Locust pass by, a sample loop of L'uomo che saprà by Francesco De Masi & Alessandro Alessandroni (featured on Kaleidoscope) will play.
