Kraff is a diety of the Epsilon Program in both the 3D Universe and HD Universe of the Grand Theft Auto series.
History[]
Background[]
Kraff is first cited on the Epsilon Program promotional website for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and is commonly referred to as being the equivalent of "God" in the Epsilonism.[1]
According to the Epsilon Program and its founder Cris Formage, Kraff is the Emperor of the 4th Paradigm and appears to be a key part of the cult's beliefs.[2]
Kraff's Descendants[]

In both universes, the Epsilonism considers any member of the program who has a distinctive facial birthmark in their heads as a possible descendant of Kraff.
In the HD Universe exclusively, it is stated that anyone who is born with a birthmark that adorns their elbow or buttocks can be considered a descendant of Kraff – Generic male Epsilonists found in Grand Theft Auto V may commonly brag about being a descendant of Kraff while stealing a car. However, those who have a birthmark on their head or face are the ones who "drink with Kraff in the 4th Paradigm".
The Epsilon Tract makes clear that Unsaveables cannot be related to Kraff nor the Epsilonism in any form – "Unsaveables" include antithesis, people of Science, and mainly people with red hair (ginger people) or anything distinctively red in their appearance.[3] [4] [5] [6] [7]
Trivia[]
- Kraff (and to an extent Zapho) appears to be inspired by Xenu, a figure in the Church of Scientology – the Epsilonism's real-life counterpart – described as an extraterrestrial ruler of a "Galactic Confederacy" who brought billions of his people to Earth.
- Red haired people being prohibited from being related to Kraff and the Epsilonism as a whole is a clear reference to discrimination against people with red hair, which is particularly common in United Kingdom, Rockstar North's homeland.
- Francis Sinclair, a time traveler from Rockstar San Diego's Red Dead franchise, adorns a similar birthmark to the Kraff's descendant example image. However, the character's portrayal and background contradicts every aspect of the Epsilonism (red birthmark, prohibited red hair, time travel science (general relativity), contradictory years with Epsilonism's creation, unrelated universe, etc.), making the possibility of it being a reference unlikely and simply a coincidence.
- Regardless, his distinctive birthmark is never used for any religious purpose, but is rather created to be used as a plot element for a bigger reveal in his last encounter, to be recognizable by the player in his "second form".
