Investigation: Guest List is a Data Leak investigation mission featured in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of The Contract update.

Description

“'Ey, so this crypto dude, Ben Brooks? He's planning to auction off that NFT at an exclusive cocktail event at his place. We need a way in. And if I know anything about these big tech motherfuckers, their lawyer's always on speed dial, and always got a front door key. Imani's got that motherfucker's address. Let's go pay his ass a visit.”

The Coil Stun Gun is a non-lethal weapon that can be used to incapacitate enemies and other players.

The player is called by Franklin who tells them that Ben Brooks is hosting an NFT auction, and they need to find a way to get in. He lets them know about a lawyer who works for Brooks, and advises them to go to his address, which is either at Lake Vinewood Estates or at 2112 Mad Wayne Thunder Drive in Vinewood Hills, where he is hosting a small party. The player is given a Coil Stun Gun for the mission, if they do not possess one.

Keep your weapons stashed and stay away from any armed guards while searching the area to avoid alerting the security team.

Use the image sent by Franklin to identify the lawyer among the guests.

Once the player arrives at the lawyer's house, Franklin sends an image of the lawyer to assist in identifying him among the guests. There are multiple guards around the site, including two enemies with Assault Shotguns and one with body armor, although with no protective helmet.

Use the Stun Gun on the lawyer to incapacitate them.

The player kills the security guards and uses the Stun Gun provided to incapacitate the lawyer. Should the player incapacitate the lawyer first, they must deal with all enemies.

The player then picks up the lawyer and puts him in the trunk of his Super Diamond, which is parked in the driveway. They then steal the car and drive it and the lawyer back to the Agency, while dealing with the chasing security, arriving in pairs of armored Schafter V12s with two enemies each (up to three waves). Once the car is stored in the Agency's garage, the mission is complete.

Transcript

Pre-Mission Phone Call
After completing the investigation at the Country Club, The Protagonist gets a call from Franklin and Imani. Franklin: Get back to the office whenever you're ready. Imani: See you soon.

First Time Dialogue

The Protagonist returns to their Agency computer. Franklin: 'Ey, what you got for us on that mansion? Imani: So it belongs to Ben Brooks. Crypto investor. Billionaire. Of course. Franklin: What the hell he want with Dre music? Imani: Yeah, it's weird, right? So I did a little digging, and it looks like he wants to use it as an NFT. Franklin: You think he gonna sell this thing, or what? Imani: Yeah. He's setting up some hyper-exclusive gathering at his place to do a world premiere, and put it up for auction. Franklin: Oh, shit. Okay, well look, let's get our associate on that guest list.

Mission Transcript

The Protagonist leaves the Agency. When replaying this setup, the dialogue starts from here. The Protagonist gets a call from Franklin and Imani. (Dialogue 1) (Dialogue 2) Franklin: 'Ey, so this crypto dude, Ben Brooks? He's planning to auction off that NFT at an exclusive cocktail event at his place. We need a way in. And if I know anything about these big tech motherfuckers, their lawyer's always on speed dial, and always got a front door key. Imani's got that motherfucker's address. Now let's go pay his ass a visit. The Protagonist approaches the lawyer's house. Franklin: Okay, look, we gon' need some alone time with this lawyer if we gon' persuade his ass to give us the access codes to this fuckin' party. You goin' need to get him back to the office alive alright? Imani: And if we take his car too, we can use it to get past the gate at the mansion. Franklin: Aww, shit, hell yeah. Good call. Look, let's do this shit right, though. Start with getting past the dude's security. When you get to him, use the stun gun I set you up with. Should knock his ass out cold. You get this motherfucker back to the office, I'll take care of the interview. The Protagonist kills all the security guards and uses the stun gun on the lawyer. They then take the lawyer and put him in the trunk of his car. Franklin: 'Ey, just bring him straight back to the office once you got him. It's time for me to have a chat about the access codes. We'll leave his car in the garage so it's all set for the auction. Franklin: Okay, look, Ben motherfucking Brooks. If he's the kinda dude to run some crypto-billionaire auction to sell Dre's music, we gon' need to get creative if we wanna get you on that guest list. In my experience, these type of assholes always got a weak spot: they lawyers. Imani's already got his address. Now let's pay him a visit, and see if he can get us in. The Protagonist approaches the lawyer's house. Franklin: Okay, look, I dealt with enough of these bigshot lawyers to know this asshole is gonna have a whole lot of fuckin' security. Imani: And we need him alive if we're gonna get the access codes and some intel on the party. Might as well get his car, too... with any luck we can just drive into the mansion with it. Franklin: Yeah. I like that. When you find him, break out the stun gun I set you up with, knock his ass out cold. You get this motherfucker back to the office, I'll take care of the interview. The Protagonist kills all the security guards and uses the stun gun on the lawyer. They then take the lawyer and put him in the trunk of his car. Franklin: You get him? Look, head back to the office, I gotta talk to him about those access codes. Imani: And remember to take his car to the auction, we'll leave it in the garage for you. The Protagonist takes the car back to their Agency, escaping any attackers that come for them. SETUP COMPLETE

Post-Mission Messages
Following this setup, the Protagonist gets a text from Franklin. Franklin: (text) Great job out there. I'm gonna have a talk with our friend here and call you back.

Trivia

• The objectives from this mission are very similar to the final part of the mission The Third Way from Grand Theft Auto V.
  • In both games the player must go to the target's house, kill their bodyguards and kidnap the target.
  • The scene of the GTA Online Protagonist putting him in the trunk of his car is very similar to Trevor Philips putting Devin Weston in the trunk of his Tornado.
  • The house in Lake Vinewood Estates has a similar layout to Devin Weston's Mansion.
• It's possible to find and incapacitate the lawyer using stun guns equipped in Drones.

Oversights

• Rarely, the Stun Gun may be lost upon being wasted, rendering the mission unable to progress. This can be avoided if the player has one on their inventory and not stored in a Gun Locker.
