The Internal Affairs Division, or simply Internal Affairs (also abbreviated IAD), is a law enforcement agency that appears in Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
Description[]
Internal Affairs Division of the LCPD is mentioned in Grand Theft Auto III in some news reports and in the newspaper seen in the introduction scene. In 2001, they began investigating links between the Yakuza and the LCPD. One of their undercover officers, Tanner, managed to infiltrate the organization posing as one of their drivers. Due to Asuka Kasen hiring Claude to perform several jobs for the organization, Tanner was killed before he could identify their LCPD source as Ray Machowski.
It is also mentioned that Jimmy Hernandez reported the murder of Officer Ralph Pendelbury to the Internal Affairs Division of the LSPD[ref?], albeit framing Frank Tenpenny for the killing rather than admitting it was, in fact, he himself that killed Pendelbury. This leads to Hernandez being murdered by Eddie Pulaski.
