The Vom Feuer Heavy Sniper Mk II is a weapon that appears in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of the Gunrunning update.
Design[]
Grand Theft Auto Online[]
The weapon is the Mark II version of the Heavy Sniper, which appears to be strongly based on the Serbu BFG-50A, but with a longer top rail, cheek rest and free-floating handguard barely reminiscent of the Barrett XM500 and a straighter magazine similar to the DSR-50. Given the proportions, it appears to have a CQB (short barrel) configuration.
Performance[]
Grand Theft Auto Online[]
The Heavy Sniper Mk II improves over the regular Heavy Sniper in damage (from 216 to 230), with the same rate of fire. Despite having the same damage multiplier against other players (x1.39) as the regular Heavy Sniper, one shot with regular ammo in the chest is still not enough to kill a high level player at full health. However, they can still cause severe damage and retains its damage output against vehicles, especially aircraft.
Along with the standard Zoom Scope and the Advanced Scope, the weapon also has access to Night Vision and Thermal Scopes; despite having lesser magnification than the Advanced Scope (4x max magnification versus the Advanced Scope’s 7.5x), they allow the user to spot players in dark areas or detect heat signatures. Note that heat signatures can appear even beyond the render distance, allowing the user to identify, target and shoot players at ludicrous distances. Additionally, heat signatures can be seen through certain materials and walls such as thin sheet metal and vehicles.
It also has access to an Extended Clip, increasing magazine capacity to 8 rounds, as well as a Suppressor intended for stealth attacks (making it the most powerful suppressed weapon). Muzzle Brakes are also available to reduce recoil, although it is not very noticeable due to the low fire rate. As of The Contract update, when the Heavy Sniper MK II is equipped with both an Extended Clip and a Muzzle Brake, it can kill players rank 100 in one shot to the chest.
With the heavy barrel applied, long-range damage falls to 50% of point blank damage (as for other Mk II weapons) instead of 30% for most weapons. This makes it overall useful at longer ranges, as it can be still powerful at around its maximum range of 1,500m, and its velocity being 5000 m/s (18,000 kph).
The weapon has access to the following ammo types:
- Incendiary rounds, which have a 100% chance of igniting targets; potentially killing them with afterburn.
- Armor Piercing rounds, which increase damage over armored targets. This can help at taking out targets from the body easier, as Body Armor may decrease the overall effectiveness of the weapon.
- Full Metal Jacket rounds, which improve damage over vehicles and can penetrate bullet-resistant windows. Effective against lightly armored vehicles and aircraft such as helicopters and jets.
- Explosive rounds, which give a destructive firepower against unarmored vehicles and will knock down human targets. Effective against many types of aircraft and lightly armored vehicles. These have a small blast radius of one meter and inflict 40% the damage of the RPG, destroying the Nightshark in 23 rounds, and the Rhino Tank in ten rounds.
Note that specialized ammo magazines have a reduced capacity of 4 rounds, with an overall capacity of 80 rounds (20 magazines). Explosive ammo have a further reduced capacity of 40 rounds (10 magazines).

Avoiding the Explosive Rounds[]
Unlike the Homing Launcher, the Heavy Sniper Mk II fitted with explosive rounds is the most dangerous weapon that the player could easily be killed with 1 shot on foot or 2 shots if they entered an aircraft or armored vehicle. To avoid getting shot by explosives:
- Quickly go into passive mode in any cases of being shot such as entering the vehicle or aircraft.
- Use BST and Body Armor, though they will still be killed by direct hit with one bullet.
- However, this is no longer a case as the explosive round now deals half damage to players and NPCs.
- Enter any armoured vehicles like the Insurgent or the APC that can withstand damage from explosives.
- Bailing out of the vehicle could still be risky whether the shooter hits or misses the vehicle.
- Fly above higher altitude or behind the building to avoid detection by players.
- Fly further distance away from the shooter which makes it more difficult to take you down without losing their ammo.
Locations[]
Grand Theft Auto Online[]
- Can be converted from a Heavy Sniper at the Weapon Workshop, for $165,375.
- Modified versions will be provided during some Air Freight Cargo Steal Missions.
- Modified versions with Explosive Rounds will be provided during Setup: Barrage.
Trivia[]
Grand Theft Auto Online[]
- The explosive rounds may be an allusion to the Barrett XM109, a prototype variant of the M107 chambered for 25×59mm grenade rounds, capable of defeating light armor.
Oversights[]
Grand Theft Auto Online[]
- Prior to 1.41 update, the Heavy Sniper Mk II had a glitch where the scope would sway if zoomed in while standing on a yacht. In the update, this has been fixed where the scope can no longer sway while standing on a yacht, making it match with other sniper rifles.
