Mission Objectives
Head over to the Opry Car Park and meet with Gran'pa's grandson Dirk. You need his Pickup to kidnap Gran'pa. Pick up one of the three cars provided by Dirk. Hunt down and kill three escaped Loonies before the time runs out. Pick up Dirk's Pickup. Now go to The Ol' Banjo and collect Gran'pa. Sound the horn. Bring Gran'pa to the Research Center - in one piece. Do not let the Rednecks catch you.

Gran'pa We Love You! (or Race 'N' Kidnap in the PlayStation version) is a mission in Grand Theft Auto 2 available during Area 2: Residential, given to the protagonist Claude Speed by Sex and Reproductive Systems (SRS) Scientist boss Dr. LaBrat. The mission is available from the bottom yellow phone at the Scientist Research Center in Stromberg, Residential District.

Moderate Respect for the Scientists is required in order to unlock this mission, indicated by the yellow light icon below the gang's respect-o-meter on the HUD.

Description

Claude Speed goes to the SRS Scientists Research Center in Dominatrix, with Dr. LaBrat explaining that The Professor is looking to experiment on some of Rednecks, one of their rivals in the district. The Professor has singled out one person in particular, Gran'pa, an old and blind man who will only come with Claude Speed in his grandson's Pickup. Claude drives to the Opry RV Park and meets Dirk, Gran'pa's grandson, who offers his Pickup to Claude if he can kill three escaped Loonies and return in under four minutes. Claude completes the task and wins Dirk's Pickup. Claude drives over to the Ol' Banjo and sounds the horn, with Gran'pa entering the Pickup. Claude then drives to the Research Center, avoiding the pursuing Rednecks.

Reward

The reward for completing the mission is $50,000, +1 Score Multiplier, and increased Scientists Respect level.

Answering the phone, Claude Speed is hired by Dr. LaBrat to kidnap an elderly Redneck member to be used in an experiment by the Professor.

LaBrat tells Claude to get the target's grandson Dirk's Pickup to pick him up.

As the timer starts, Dirk warns Claude that he has locked the doors and he can't get out of the car until he kills the Loonies and returns to the Mobile RV Park.

Trivia

• The mission is a reference to the song Grandma, We Love You.
• If the player fails the mission after being challenged to beat Dirk's time, Dirk will inform the player that "Killing the rednecks at this stage of the job wasn't clever, THC-303." This is an error because Dr. LaBrat nicknames Claude "THC-303".
