Gator Keys, also referred to as the South Keys, is a coral cay archipelago in the State of Florida, briefly mentioned in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories.
Description[]
The area is mentioned to be located near Vice City, Florida, and is used by Texan real estate developer Avery Carrington to develop luxury condos.
Avery Carringon's property Shady Acres appears to be located within the area, as implied by the condominium's radio advertisement presented by Avery himself, describing the property as being located a "short drive out of town on some pristine wetlands away from the noise and the unwanted diversity of the city."
Influence[]
As its name implies, the area is inspired by the real-life Florida Keys in South Florida.
Cut Content[]

Unused mission dialogue found in the american.gxt
file heavily implies that Gator Keys was originally meant to physically appear in-game.
The area name is revealed in a pre-mission phone call from Avery Carrington, in which he asks Tommy Vercetti to escort a representative of his construction company and make sure he reaches Gator Keys safely to buy some land in the area for Avery. The dialogue goes as follows:
This dialogue text is the only evidence of the cut mission, and there is no audio files associated with the phone call.
Avery's instructions do not specify whether the player was intended to drive the representative to Gator Keys or simply to a drop-off location around Vice City, where the person would supposedly get in a transport waiting for him and travel to Gator Keys offscreen.
